Hospital invites the public to tour the facility in an effort to remove stigma associated with addiction and behavioral health issues.
Over three hundred people attended a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 9 for the new 56,000 SF, 72-bed hospital located on the northeast corner of McDowell Road and 107th Avenue – is the first of its kind in Avondale.
After a quick celebratory speech and photos, guests were invited on guided informative tours. In addition to administrative offices, patient exam rooms and a pharmacy, the facility includes double occupancy patient suites with lounge areas, a fitness room, a full kitchen and dining room, activity rooms for group, art and music therapy, and outdoor patios.
“For better or worse, behavioral health is certainly an aspect and definitely needed in our community,” said John Safin, President and CEO of the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce. Safin thanked the hospital operator for establishing themselves in the west valley and commended them for their willingness to care for those in need.
Jokake coordinated design services with utility providers and was instrumental in assisting the Owner with the City plan review and permitting processes, in addition to complete design assistance and construction services on the $11.4 million, 7+ acre project.
As a result of a high detail, complex design the hospital was built to meet and/or exceed a number of facility-specific codes and regulations. When asked about the complexity of the project Jokake Project Manager Gonzo Gonzalez explained “Without the inherit knowledge of behavioral health you’re tempted to go about construction the way you always do things. It’s not until you’re actually in it that you understand why things are so technically detailed and how they fit together.”
