Ready, Set, Go! The 2015 Pinewood Derby Takes Off

September 25, 2015

On Friday, September 25, Jokake hosted the 2015 Pinewood Derby benefiting Fighting Fancy and other local and national nonprofits. With several employees and sponsors in attendance, this year’s derby raised more than $5,000 for charity – a feat that wouldn’t be possible without the involvement of Jokake’s dedicated team members and business partners.

During the event, Director Pat Baldwin regaled attendees with his love of all things pinewood derby, including great photos of his involvement in derbies over the years. Employees’ families and friends enjoyed lunch while waving checkered flags and taking photos with Jokake Joe at the event entrance. Once the races began, all eyes were on the cars – decorated in countless themes. From Back to the Future to a double decker bus, the creative spark of the participants was evident.

“Events like the annual Pinewood Derby really highlight how Jokake employees come together for work, fun and community,” said Casey Cartier, President. “As a company, giving back to the community, especially to causes our individual employees are passionate about, is at the core of who we are – it’s a natural part of our culture. This annual fun event is just one example of how our employees give back to the community in so many ways.”

See what happens when we speak with Fighting Fancy founder Heather Owens and surprise her with a $6,050 donation.
