Safe and Timely Public Campus Expansions

Building new facilities on existing campuses is always a challenge.

Whether on a hospital campus, an industrial complex, a municipal facility, or and educational campus,it is always important to understand existing campus infrastructure and how the new project will integrate into the old facility. Additionally, safety, site access and avoiding disturbance of ongoing operations multiply the difficulty of this type of project.

Our work on Paradise Valley Community College’s Q Building involved incorporating the old Maricopa County Library into the existing PVCC campus. An added challenge was that the building was already occupied by the AAEC charter high school that had to maintain classes throughout construction. We made this happen by building a new charter school facility within the existing building and then created a safe and secure environment for the students to come each day. We then went to work expanding, upgrading and completely renewing the Library building into a fully integrated part of the PVCC campus. The result: zero safety or security incidents, a satisfied client, and a project completed one month early and under budget.
