Unlike most call centers, this 39,000-square-foot interior is visually stimulating through the use of Monster’s corporate colors, natural lighting, and unique forms. Providing an open space that takes advantage of natural lighting required many innovations. The 120-foot-deep space could have been just another typical 12' high call center that went on forever. Instead, the space presents a dynamic, high-energy workplace; an alternative to conventional call centers that meets minimum requirements for the staff they serve.

The space demonstrates careful attention to detail in the placement of all ceiling-related elements, as well as the development of smooth, continuous curves in the painted drywall. Coordination of the ceiling elements was required to create an interesting, organized solution to the open structure. As an open space, it was important to control the overall ambient noise level through the use of Tectum panels on the perimeter walls, sound baffles, and a strategically placed sound masking system. The development of the circular “Monster den” created a building within a building. The ceiling of the den is supported by its own structure, and 60’ trusses were assembled on site within the building. The Monster den features a plasma television and a pool table for the staff to use during breaks. Individual “huddle” rooms throughout the layout, as well as diagonal work stations, allow for a greater level of privacy when needed.

The use of color, daylighting, visually interesting solutions and acoustical control, as well as creativity in layout, all combine to make Monster an exceptional, exciting place to work. This solution offers many of the extra elements necessary to acquire and retain a quality workforce in the Valley’s booming economy.

This fast-track tenant improvement was executed with the highest level of quality and met all owner and design team expectations. The project team had an initial 14-week schedule and successfully completed the space one week early, a clear result of effective communication and cohesive teamwork.
